Mailing and Material Management Services
Customer Resource Center
Material Management Services provides short-term storage of non-hazardous materials for a minimum of three months to university departments, depending on space availability.
Fragile packages or packages that require special handling and/or care may be stored upon request. Material Management Services requires advance notice of such requests in order to visit the location and determine the feasibility of handling/storing such item(s).
USC departments are required to label all their storage items and to keep and maintain their own inventory levels.
Charges
Monthly storage charges are calculated as follows:
Opening a new storage account
Contact Material Management Services to request storage space by sending an email to mmsorder@usc.edu to check the availability of storage space. Please indicate the amount of space required. You will receive a phone call or email with a response regarding storage space that is available.
If space is available and an agreement is made to secure storage space, you will be given the monthly storage charge and an ISD in Workday using ISP-SP-051 will be required. This ISD will be charged monthly until all items have been removed
Pick-up and delivery
Material Management Services will inspect items for storage prior to pick-up. Items that exceed Material Management Services’ moving capabilities should be handled by Facilities Planning Management (FPM) Moving Special Services.
Material Management Services will evaluate pick-up and deliveries in buildings without elevators to determine whether the pick-up/delivery can be safely completed.
